Perfect almost anywhere

This little beauty is perfect just about anywhere that meets its growing needs.

Lychnis 'Rolly's Favorite'

It is wonderful in beds, borders, rock gardens, raised beds, foundation plantings, edgings, and in early season containers, too. It has an alluring, old fashioned charm that makes it ideal for use in cottage gardens and properties with traditional architectural styles. Its quick establishment, strong growth, prolific flowering characteristics as well as its ease of maintenance and all around durability make it invaluable in modern build sites, too.

Easy to grow, and prolific flowering

Lychnis 'Rolly's Favorite'

Plant enthusiasts will recognize the superior traits that this easy to grow, prolific flowering, and highly dependable selection brings to the late spring and early summer garden. It is nice and vigorous, yet more compact, bushy, and heat tolerant than most other members of the campion family.

It has adorable pink blooms that are produced in much more profusion and for a longer time than its contemporaries. Even when it is not in flower, the low-growing mounds of rich, dark green foliage contribute to a good display.

‘Rolly's Favorite’ is an outstanding garden perennial that is tipped to rank among the best of recently released, early season selections. It is a worthy example of why Garden Splendor® plants are "the best of the tried and true and the most promising of the exciting and new." So give it a try! It could well become your favorite, too.

Originated From a Species in the Western Alps

Lychnis 'Rolly's Favorite'

Descended from a species (Lychnis flos-jovis) that thrives on rocky slopes in the western Alps, ‘Rolly's Favorite’ is an easy and reliable grower that performs consistently well in most soils, as long as they are well-drained.

In our trials, we have not observed any seed production, which leads us to suspect that it may be sterile, and therefore, may explain the extended and concentrated flowering period. While seed heads may not need removing, old flowering stems should be trimmed regularly to neaten the appearance. It is a good idea to divide established plants every 3-4 years to maintain vigor.

For best results, we suggest amending the soil with extra organic material at planting time and applying a mulch to help conserve moisture during extended dry spells.
